Does anyone have any suggestions for natural acne treatment?

I've been using proactiv for years and now I'm finding that my skin is used to it and it is not as effective as it used to be. I have acne primarily around my chin and it flares up right around that time of the month. I want to go all natural and I'm not sure what's the best way to go.

I've tried washing with glycerin soap. Hasn't done much. I've also tried using baking soda and it will work for a while and then I'll break out again.

Any suggestions for natural home acne remedies is much appreciated?

There really aren't any effective home remedies, i.e., topical applications, that you could use.

Acne basics:
1. Don't over wash or cleanse problem arease as this over stimulates your oil glands.
2. Keep your hands away from your face. Constantly touching the affected area irritates & may cause infection, especially if your hands aren't clean.
3. Don't pop anything, which may cause extensive scarring.
4. Use gentle cleansers or cleansing bars, i.e., don't use anything with lots of chemicals, additives, fragrances, etc. Stick to products that are non-comodegenic & allergy-free as well as products formulated for sensitive skin. I've used Basis & Purpose cleansing bars, but only once daily.
5. Keep hydrated. Drinking lots of water helps to cleanse pores from the inside out.
6. Hormonal surges at that time of the month will complicate issues. You may want to see your doctor & ask him/her to run a hormonal blood panel. If those hormones that cause acne are higher than normal, you may need to be on a birth control pill or other medication that will help suppress the production of those hormones that cause or exacerbate acne.
7. Last, any food allergies may cause you to break out. Food, as a general rule, does not cause acne. However, eating an unhealthy diet does contribute to acne as certain foods promote problems with hormone causing acne.

Good luck!
